Drifting By

The autumn leaves drift by my window, and as they gently hit the ground my husband sweeps them up with his lawn equipment. While the colors are glorious, fall must come to an end and make way for yet another season of life. There truly IS a season for all things - good and not so good - if only we could remember that in the down times.

My long time friend and neighbor, Mary Lou, often said "storms never last, do they babe?" I'll never forget the day she came across the street and brought me a Waylon Jennings song by the same title. Together we sat in the middle of the living room floor listening to that tune on a small portable record player. I can see her smile and hear our laughter as we hugged each other and sang the song in our best off-key voices. It's true . . . storms never last and neither do seasons. They each come and ultimately drift on to the next . . . just like the leaves outside my window.

How beautifully put. Life is ART you know. God's art written to us through His seasons and events. We chose how to respond to all we see and journey through. Without His beauty in the world, we be sightless and empty vessels. Enjoy!
